The Women’s Connection 3rd Annual International Women Authors Series

Trinity Pathway Hospice candlelight service of remembrance

American Heart Association Go Red for Women Luncheon

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, Waterfront Convention Center, Bettendorf

Trinity is the Presenting Sponsor again to support heart disease awareness among women.  Since 2004, Go Red for Women luncheons in the Quad-Cities have raised a total of $250,000 thanks to community supporters. Events like the Go Red for Women luncheon continue to help raise awareness and change the statistic that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women.  Tickets for the event are $35.  For more information, call (563) 323-4321.

CANCER

 

Look Good … Feel Better

3-5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7 (Iowa)

This program teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients in active treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. The American Cancer Society, in partnership with the National Cosmetology Association and the Cosmetics, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, train volunteer cosmetologists to teach women how to cope with skin changes and hair loss using free cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. Fee: Free.

Learn the latest information about different types of bariatric surgeries available at Trinity, including lap-band surgery. Fee: Free.

AARP Driving Safety

Noon-4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8 and Wednesday, Dec. 9

AARP and Trinity offer this eight-hour driving course that may entitle participants to a 10 percent premium reduction on their auto insurance.  Plan to attend both sessions.  Fee: $12 for AARP members; $14 for non-members.

Illinois:

Iowa:

Topics include normal newborn appearances and behaviors, choices for feeding your baby, safety and well-baby care. Fee: Included with payment of Childbirth Preparation classes.

 

Breastfeeding: A Gift For Baby

Illinois:

6:30-9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22

Iowa:

6:30-9 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21

This class is taught by a certified lactation educator and covers the benefits of breastfeeding, getting started in the hospital, your first few weeks at home, returning to work and beyond. Fee: Included with the payment of Childbirth Preparation classes.

 

Birth Review Class

6:30-9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1

For couples who had a prepared childbirth experience within a four-year period.  Topics include reviews of the labor process, breathing, relaxation and hospital procedures. Fee: $25.

 

CPR / FIRST AID

 

Health-Care Provider CPR Renewal Class

4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1

5:30-9:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7

8-11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 10

8-11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16

For persons working in the health-care field or daycare providers.  This certification from the American Heart Association is good for two years. Fee: $45.
