It was early on a foggy morning when we set out to the Stone Creek Winery. We were going to pick grapes, have a wonderful lunch and stomp on some of the grapes. First, we had a some breakfast and a little instruction and then off to work. The work was interesting, cool when we started, but getting close to hot when we finished picking grapes.
Then we rode to the lunch location at the winery house, cleaned up, and had lunch. We also got to sample some of the wines made at Stone Creek. The owner's dog, Doofus, met us at the winery house and showed us how to cool off in the pool.
Then came the main attraction. A large square vat with grapes in the bottom was backed under a shade tree and we were all invited to stomp those grapes. Many from our party did stomp the grapes. I think it was as much fun to watch as to stomp (but I did not do any stomping). See the pictures!
Stone Creek does this every year in September, and they are glad to get all the help they can.
