This year's Stewardship program kicked off with a wonderful time on Friday October 3rd. We had an auction at the Arsenal Golf Club with heavy hors d'oeurves. I was certainly heavier when I left. The evening started with getting to look at all the silent bidding items and eating while contemplating how much to bid. Since we all bid by our number, no one knew who they were outbidding. Sadly, I found out later that I had been outbid on the Grant Wood necktie.
Hollis Hohensee introduced our auctioneer for the evening, Paul Renaud. Paul kept up a lively banter as he announced the winners of the silent auctions and moved into the “live” auction items. Those items included several excellent bottles of wine, an Isabel Bloom figurine (dubbed Serenity Angel for our bidding), renting a Church Youth Work Team, a box of wine, and a boating trip on the Mississippi River with Jim and Sunny Moorhusen. George Jamieson was very glad when Jo Jameison stopped bidding against him for that boating trip. The best part was that we raised over $8,000 to kick off our Stewardship Campaign.
There is still a very long way to go, but this is an excellent, fun start.
