Christian Education
"We strive toward the transformation of people of all ages to be
servants of God through Christian Education"
Staying the “extra” hour for Christian Education is worth
it. There are a variety of learning opportunities and exciting new activities
to compliment long-standing traditions. We are friendly, open and family
oriented. In fact, we have implemented the "Safe Church Policy" to
make sure our kids are learning and building friendships in a safe
environment. We want children in church. We provide a special
children's bulletin.
Nursery
Volunteers from within the church pitch in every Sunday to
provide care for our youngest children of God, from newborns to four-year-olds;
an additional room is set up for Pre-K to First-Graders. To ensure extra
safety, all children must be signed in and out by an adult every Sunday.
Sunday School
The Sunday School program is the mainstay of our educational
ministry for those 5 years to 6th Grade. Our program is a rotation-based
model that allows children to encounter some of the bible’s most beautiful and
significant stories in amazing ways including sensational experiences through
games, plays, cooking, dramatic story-telling, and crafts. This year we will
study Daniel, Joseph, th 23rd Psalm, the Birth of Christ, John the Baptist,
Books of the Bible, Miracles of Jesus, the Easter Story, and the Woman at the
Well. 7th and 8th graders have their own curriculum to
follow on a weekly basis.
Opend
The purpose of Opend is to engage our high school youth in
thoughtful and faithful open-ended discussion of theological value. As we study
current issues and reflect on the week’s bible message, the aim is to create a
safe and trusted community where members challenge each other and faith is
encouraged.
Confirmation
Available to all church youth Eighth Grade and above who
wish to reaffirm their baptism, our confirmation program is built to help youth
grow in their spiritual journey as they learn the history of the United Church of
Christ and the Christian religion as a whole. Confirmands will explore their
own beliefs and those of others in preparation to become an adult member of the
church. Special events this year will include a retreat to the Burlington Water Park to explore sacraments and baptism in a whole new way.
Youth Group
All Jr. High and High school students are invited to attend
youth group events and meetings. We gather every Sunday from 5:00-6:30pm to
enjoy each others’ company and grow with one another in faith through fun and
games, service work, and study. Activities include, bowling, mini golfing,
Trunk or Treat and Haunted House Hopping, CROP Walk, Thanksgiving Breakfast,
Valentine Dinner Theater, 30 Hour Famine, and an end of the year Video
Scavenger Hunt. See Youth Director, Heidi Hulme at 762.0787 or email her at .
Young Adults
We invite all college students and recent graduates to join
us Thursday evenings for a bible study and faith discussion covering a wide range
of discussion themes. Bible studies begin at 8:15pm weekly.
